Business Information

  • Legal business name: Andre Aing
  • PasteZero is a software application owned and operated by Andre Aing, trading as Aravity Studios.
  • Website: pastezero.com

PasteZero ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. PasteZero is designed to be 100% local and offline - your clipboard contents and documents are processed entirely on your Mac and are never sent to a remote server or AI service. This Privacy Policy explains what little information we handle, how we handle it, and your choices.

1. Information

a. No Account Required

PasteZero for Mac does not require you to create an account. If you contact support by email, we will receive only the information you choose to send us.

b. Clipboard Content

When you copy text, PasteZero monitors the macOS general pasteboard so it can store the copy in your local clipboard history. For each text item it keeps two local views:

  • Original: the text exactly as it was copied.
  • AI cleaned: the result of applying your enabled deterministic cleanup rules.

Both versions stay on your device in the app's local storage. This history never leaves your Mac and is never uploaded to us or any third party. Clearing history, deleting an item, or uninstalling the app removes that data from your device.

c. Documents You Drop onto Zero

When you drag a supported file onto Zero (or Dog Dock icon), the app extracts readable text from the file, applies the same local cleaning pipeline used for clipboard content, and writes a separate cleaned copy with a PasteZero- filename prefix.

File extraction and cleaning happen entirely on-device. The content of your files is never sent to a server.

d. What Cleaning Does (and Does Not) Do

The AI cleaner is deterministic and operates only on text characters, it does not rewrite meaning, summarize, fact-check, or use a remote AI model.

Each rule can be enabled or disabled in Settings. Cleaning is applied consistently to both clipboard items and dropped files using your current settings.

e. Analytics

The PasteZero Mac app does not include analytics, tracking SDKs, or telemetry. We do not collect usage counts, device identifiers, or behavior events from the app.

Our marketing website (pastezero.com) may use minimal, privacy-friendly web analytics to understand aggregate visits (for example page views and referrers).

f. Payment Information

PasteZero is offered as a one-time purchase (currently $9.99 launch price). If you purchase a license, payment is processed by a third-party merchant of record / payment processor (Stripe, Apple, RevenueCat). We do not directly collect or store your payment card details, those are handled by the payment provider and the platform. We receive only the confirmation needed to validate your license (such as an order ID and the email you used for delivery/receipts).

2. How We Use Information

To the limited extent information is involved, we use it only to:

  • Validate a purchase and provide license delivery and support if you contact us

We do not sell your personal data, we do not train AI models on your clipboard or files, and we do not upload your content anywhere. In fact, PasteZero does not collect any data at all.

3. Data Storage - Local First

  • Clipboard history, pinned items, and your cleaning preferences are stored locally on your Mac in the app's sandboxed container / Application Support.
  • Cleaned file copies are written to your chosen output location - only you control those files.
  • No clipboard or document content is stored in the cloud by us. There is no PasteZero server that holds your text.
  • If you purchase a license, purchase records are retained by the payment provider under their retention policies; we keep only what is necessary for license validation and support.

4. Third-Party Services

PasteZero is intentionally minimal in its dependencies. The Mac app itself does not embed third-party analytics, attribution, or remote AI SDKs for cleaning. Other services are involved only when you interact with them:

  • Payment provider / merchant of record: processes your purchase and handles receipts and tax
  • macOS system services: pasteboard (clipboard), file system, and macOS Accessibility (for automatic paste, if granted)
  • Website analytics (landing site only): if enabled, to measure aggregate site traffic

Those providers process data according to their own privacy policies. Cleaning itself requires no third-party service and works fully offline.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your clipboard contents or documents with third parties for any purpose, including advertising. In fact, PasteZero doesn't collect data. However, the website shares data only:

  • With a payment provider, when you choose to buy a license, to the extent necessary to complete the transaction
  • If required by law, to comply with a valid legal obligation

Because cleaning is on-device, there is no need to send your text to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or any AI provider.

6. Permissions

PasteZero requests only the macOS permissions needed to do its job, and you can revoke them at any time in System Settings:

  • Clipboard / Pasteboard: to detect new copies and make the cleaned version available for pasting. You can pause monitoring or clear history at any time.
  • Accessibility (optional): to perform automatic paste into the frontmost app. If not granted, you can still copy the cleaned text manually from history.
  • File access: to read files you drag onto the app and write the cleaned copy. The app never scans your disk on its own.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical measures for a local app: sandboxed storage, no network exfiltration of clipboard or file contents, deterministic text transforms, and keeping the original file untouched. Security also depends on your device, keeping macOS and PasteZero updated and using FileVault / device passcode helps protect the local data stored on your Mac.

8. User Responsibility for Copied and Pasted Content

PasteZero is a tool that operates entirely on content you choose to copy, paste, or drop onto the app. We are not, and cannot be, responsible for whatever you copy or paste with it. You alone are responsible for the content you handle through PasteZero, including its accuracy, legality, and how you use or share it.

You always have the choice: what gets copied into your local history, which cleanup rules are enabled, whether to paste the original or the cleaned version, and where cleaned files are written. Nothing is done on your behalf without an action originating from you. If you do not want PasteZero to process certain content, simply pause clipboard monitoring or avoid copying/dropping that content.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You are in control:

  • Edit, delete, or clear individual clipboard items and history directly in the app
  • Pin or unpin items, search history, and toggle any cleanup rule in Settings - clipboard and file cleaning use the same active settings
  • Revoke pasteboard monitoring, Accessibility, or file access permissions in System Settings
  • Delete cleaned copies or the originals at your discretion
  • Uninstall the app at any time, this removes the local database from your Mac
  • Contact us to request help with a purchase, license, or support interaction

If you need your purchase data deleted, contact both us and the payment provider that processed your order.

10. Data Retention

Clipboard history is retained locally until you delete it. There is no automatic cloud sync and no retention on our servers because there is no server storing your content. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal obligations.

11. Children's Privacy

PasteZero is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app processes whatever text you copy locally; ensure you have appropriate permission for any content you handle.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app changes or legal requirements. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will update the website and, where appropriate, the app.

13. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or PasteZero's privacy practices, contact us at: contact@aravitystudios.com

Please do not include sensitive personal information, passwords, or full document contents in your email, describe your question and we'll help.
